Pro
Pro meaning professional, not for. Today I am not for much.
Today I spent over half of my day dealing with a situation at work where our professional opinion was ignored. I am going to spare the details but a customer wanted a specific brand of hard drive. We provided it and we found a massive compatibility problem. I called the customer and they refused to use the hard drives that we have in thousands of systems with a very low failure rate, the one we have tested on pretty much every piece of hardware we sell, who have a great return policy and we have a known history with. When given the information that their preferred drive will not work they choose yet another completely untested drive that may take weeks to procure. We even offered extra spare drives if failure was their concern.
But they didn't take it. Now we have another unknown that will have to go through the testing.
I don't understand why someone would come to a company for a specific task and then completely ignore their recommendations. I could see if we were trying to upsell them or do something shady, but we weren't. We were offering a slightly more expensive component with an additional spare and they declined.
