Another New Phone
I like the T-Mobile Sidekick. Really, I do! I've had two so far. I don't like the size of the devices. They are huge; this is made more annoying since I carry my phone in my pocket. The features and the operation are great but the "closedness" of the platform and size irritate me after a while. I handed my Sidekick iD off to Jacey, who always borrowed it to browse the internet when we were on trips, and I went back to my beat up RAZR. It didn't take long for me to find all the things that were busted on my RAZR and force me to purchase a new phone. The "0" key rarely worked. The ear speaker was blown and crackled like The Kinks when people talked. Also, it squealed. Sometimes there would be a terrible squealing noise right in my ear.
I bought another Samsung Blast. I had purchased one before getting the iD and I had liked it but I wanted more of a smart phone. It works just the same as it did when I last had one. It's a fine phone and the sure type style keyboard makes texting easy. The email and IM features are pretty much worthless, but missing those features makes me less distracted.
As expected, I am anti-smartphone right now. I go back and forth on this. I do think that had Apple not locked the iPhone to AT&T that I would own one and be pretty damned content. Until they open their eyes ... and platform ... I'm carrying two devices.
