Root Canal

It's done. Finally done. Late last year this tooth had a really large buildup done to hopefully save it. It's no secret that I've had some dental problems and this was my last molar on the bottom left. I needed to keep this tooth.

I have an irrational fear of dentists so I need sedation. My previous dentist was in an accident and is not back practicing. Today was the first time at my new dentist.

Anyway, this tooth was abscessed for the better part of two months. I went through many series of antibiotics but I still had a puffy feeling tooth that would hurt. It would also fester up on the side of my gum. It was horrible. When it would hurt, even a little it felt like the entire left side of my head was going to explode. My ear, eye, sinuses and jaw just ached.

Of course during the time of dealing with this there was a story in the news about a kid that had an abscessed tooth that ended up causing a brain abscess and the kid died. That story did wonders for my mental state. I had this horrible feeling that I had a ticking time bomb in my mouth.

The good news is that it is done and it is barely tender! The root canal was uneventful and I had my teeth cleaned while I was at it. I've got a temporary crown on it so I have to watch sticky things and I can't pull up whiel I'm flossing. Otherwise I feel great! Better than I have felt in months.
