Retro Video Games... and a Wii Fake Out

Earlier this week we bought "Super Mario Bros." and "The Legend of Zelda" on the Wii Virtual Console. These old games are so much fun! They don't involve your life, they are just fun games. I remember being completely enthralled in "Zelda" when my friend Wes Smith had it. Though I never owned it I got to play it a bunch at his house. So having that nostalgia It was weird to play it an realize how easy it is to play... and then stop. If I haven't been able to save it's not really that big of a deal, it's not terribly hard to get anywhere. A far cry from a lot of modern games.

I have quite an attachment to "Super Mario Bros." Not long after my grandparents sold their second bar the new owner put in the table style console. My dad still frequented that bar and took me up there quite a bit and I would play with the owner's son. We had an Atari 2600 at home and to me this was an amazing game. Of course once we bought an NES we had it at home to play constantly. I still remember almost all the secrets in the levels.

I love the play and forget nature of these old games. I also like that the Wii has brought a lot of that back. The are supposed to be fun and entertaining, not frustrating and life consuming.

Edited. I forgot to add in the Wii fakeout. I did the Wii Fitness test on Wii Sports. After I finished it said my Wii age was "20," and then the characters started tilting, then sliding, then they fell off the screen and a "27" popped up.
