Cables and bridges.
I needed two thing today: an A to B USB cable and a better bridge for my bass. Two simple things that should be readily available.
First the bridge. I previously would have went to Scotty's. They always had lots of parts hanging around. And by hanging around I mean that they were there, on hand and ready to go. They also knew what they were talking about. Unfortunately Scotty's is gone and the only music store withing 20 miles is stupid ass Guitar Center. They had NO bridges. None. Not a single bass bridge in the entire place. So I call the next closest place: Big Dude's. I call and they transfer me to a guy who is giving a guitar lesson! What the hell is that? He says that he can take my number and call me, "maybe tomorrow sometime." Could no one else at the place confirm or deny the existence of any bass bridges in their store.
Jacey needed a USB cable to hook up our color printer (we've got a laser that gets most of the use). While I was out buying some other things I went to Office Depot. $30! Wow. So I go to Radio Shack. $30! I come home and look online: $1.88. I was able to get the USB cable and a longer RCA cable for running my iPod or laptop to the stereo for a total of $6.00 shipped.
That's some amazing profit margin on those cables!
