Appearance as a Social Experiment

I've been doing a small experiment base don appearance. 99% of my life I wear jeans, usually in some state of disarray and a black t-shirt. When it's chilly I wear a hoody of some sort. So I bought some button up shirts and I've been wearing them a few days a week.

It's actually really dramatic! When I'm dressed nicer and I go to a store I nearly always get helped, the people at the store say "Hi." When I'm in my plain old t-shirts I nearly always get ignored.

When I have Lily with me it's really bad. I feel like I am always getting weird looks from people. I throw on a nice shirt and It's completely different. Instead of getting the child molester look I get that, "How nice to see a Dad and her daughter."

I don't know yet what I think of my "findings."

Comments:
I hear that! I have a 7 yr. old stepson now, and because I have piercings, tatoos and pink hair, I get treated like a leper from other parents, clerks, even my fiance's fam. The only place I've gotten polite service at recently has been Autozone and the tatoo place up on Central. Not to mention other parents at Gabriel's elem school. Imagine getting snubbed by people I wouldn't talk to anyway. I suppose I can't really be hurt by it.
