Neighbor Problems

A few weeks ago our backyard was "vandalised." Some kids left bisuit dough, trash and some other random thing in our back yard. We suspected the people behind us but cleaned it up and figured it was no big deal.

A couple weeks after that two slats of our fence were knocked down. Jacey called me about it and then found the slats in the neighbors yard and put them back up. Later that afternoon they were back down again. I went over to talk to the parents. She said that none of her kids had been outside all day but immediately said she would fix the fence. One of the kids then tried to blame it on my daughter who had been at school when they were knocked down the first time. Lily told us one of the kids broke them with a shovel. We went back and there were the broken boards and a shovel in their back yard.

Tonight Jacey and I were cleaning up and we hear something smack against the back of the house followed by some giggling. We start scrambling around. She goes into the living room to turn on the yard light and I run out and grab a stick from the porch on my way out. This process actually took a lot of time. I saw a kid run through the kitchen in the house then look back over at us before continuing on through the house. A girls voice inside then says, "If you keep itup they are going to call the cops." To which we yelled, "yes we are calling the cops!" along with some other nice words.

A girl comes outside and I ask if there are any adults. She says that she is in charge. I ask her how old she is and she smarts off about being "old enough to know not to hit houses." The conversation is pretty rediculous and she spends the entire time being sassy like they had done nothing but still admitting things like details and knowing that some other person did that. Yeah right. She tried blaming it on a football hitting the house. Our yard is completely fenced and the gate... in the front yard is locked. I found no football.

We called the cops.

A few minutes later there's is a boys voice yelling, "can we get our ball back." I go outside and ask him what he's looking for. He says, "can we get our football back?" I say, "Sure tell me where it is and I'll get it for you." He has it in his hand! I ask him where it was and he said it was in their front yard. I said OK, but that had nothing to do with hitting my house. He says, "I'm just trying to keep the peace."

The the officer shows up and we give him the story. He's pretty understanding and suggests a 6 ft. privacy fence and a big dog. He goes over to talk to the girl babysitting and have her call the parents. About 15 minutes later the officer comes back pissed! He is fuming mad. He said she was being really sassy and said that we were making trouble because they are black. He said he had a diverse background and the "race card" didn't sit very well with him. He told us that if he wasn't in contact with a parent before 11:00 p.m. that he was getting DFS involved.

I guess I should have mentioned that there were no less than 7 kids at this house with no adult supervision.

We heard when the mom got home as there was some yelling. We couldn't make out much of it. A little while later the officer comes back and says that the mother was apologetic... and white... and that the girl tries to use race as an excuse all the time. She also said that she was causing a lot of trouble and she was trying to send her daughter to her father's in Arizona. Hopefully this is the end of it.
