Ramblings From Justin Penney

I got Fox Confessor Brings the Flood by Neko Case today, my eMusic subscription renewed today! I usually avoid anything getting a big flurry of critical acclaim for some odd reason. I think it's an anti-authoritarian hold over from my high school years.

The only Neko Case work I was really familiar with was Twin Cinema and that kind of fell flat on me so I didn't really have any expectations going in. Her voice really draws you in even though it's a little overly-drenched in reverb. The instrumentation sounds very nice and organic. There's some loose spots that make it all that much more intimate.
