Ramblings From Justin Penney

I finally bought my first drum set. After years of playing the drums of the drummers I know I get to play my own! I bought a Gretsch Catalina Club in Black Pearl. There are so far pretty good. The heads that come with it are frustrating but I'm getting close. I did replace the resonant head on the floor tom with one of Ryan's old resonant heads and that helped that one quite a bit. I'm still working on the kick drum. It's a little different tuning an 18" kick drum. I stuck the only spare pillow we had in there but it's huge compared to the drum so now it's a big pillowy thud. In some instances I could see this being a cool sound... but not right now.
