Wallace & Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Tonight I took my famliy to see Wallace & Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I was supposed to be doing some recording but that fell through so we had a nice family outing.
I was pretty excited to see this. I'd read and heard a lot about it the last few weeks. I had also liked the previous Wallace and Gromit shorts (though I have not seen Chicken Run) so I was pretty set on liking this movie.
We went to the Blue Springs 8. That little number 8 seems quaint, but when I was growing up it was the 6 so it's grown a little. Unfortunately it's been a bit cannibalized by the AMC 20 a few miles away in Independence as we were the only ones at the 7:15 showing. It's kind of sad really. I remember that being a busy theater. It wasn't in the best repair, it was pretty dirty and there was a funny stench in the theater but I can overlook that stuff.
There was a short before the movie that was some Penguins from some other movie. It was cutesy. Not overall remarkable but I didn't hate it.
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit started off great with some shots of some of their neat contraptions. I'm always amazed by Rube Goldberg machines and Wallace is the king in the stop-motion animation world. The most simple of tasks get turned in to a grinding of gears and the flying of projectiles. Efficiency be damned as this is the much cooler way to get on the way to work.
I'm not going to give away any details. If you've seen the previous Wallace and Gromit stuff you'll know some outline of it: Wallace bungles something. Gromit knits when he's upset and really shows he's the brains in a more practical sense, Wallace takes all the inventor credits but Gromit is cunning.
Like most kid friendly movies I've seen lately there's a good amount of adult oriented jokes presented in an innoccuous manner. But it didn't really need them to keep us interested.
