Ramblings From Justin Penney

Jumprope for Heart is back in the studio. We got setup, got sounds and got through two songs tonight. They have really went through and made a lot of notes of the things they want. They really have a good vision of what all the songs should sound like.

We spent a while playing with an analog delay pedal that I have. It's the Arion SAD-3. One of the cool things is that it self oscillates and you can make some great crazy noises with it. Well of course tonight it didn't want to do it so I did what anyone would do.... took it apart and started twiddling things! I got it osciallting pretty good and we recorded some of it. I got a real good build into a swoopy noise that's at the beginning of a song. It then abruptly quit self-oscillating so I started poking at various parts of the circuits with my knife making it squeal in pain.

It's fun to be able to really experiment with sounds and make some interesting unique noises.
