Back From The Lake

We (Jacey, Lily and I) went down Friday night. On Saturday Lily hung out with Grandma and Grandpa while Jacey and I went and rode a mountain bike trail. The trail was awesome but I don't know if it's supposed to be talked about a bunch. It's a "locals only" kind of place from what I've heard. I'm not breaking the secret here ;)

Since this trail isn't well publicised we were told to go to Ozark Outdoors & Cyclery for a map. He gave us the map, highlighted the different routes and gave us a few tips.

So we rode the trail and it was a lot of fun. There were some tough obstacles and a lot of plank bridges over creeks. Toward the end there's a largish rock. I jumped off it. When I landed I heard a loud metal on metal sound from my front fork. Not good. They whole rest of the trail it was bottoming out and jarring pretty bad. We finished out the trail and headed back to Ozark Outdoors & Cyclery.

I asked him if they could take a quick look at my fork. He ran to the back and grabbed tools and right there in the front of the shop started tearing it down. He found the problem but we wern't able to get the fork all the way apart. So we talked about forks a little bit giving me advice on what to look for and even sent e to some large internet dealers to find deals on closeout forks. That's some amazing service! So when we were done (this was a good 10-15 minutes so far) he wouldn't take any money for the labor. He just said, next time you're down, stop back in. Awesome.

So we came home last night and I took the fork off Jacey's old Schwinn. My Giant is red and black, not a terrible combination well... the Schwinn is very girly and powder blue so I now have this girly looking powder blue fork with purple stickers on it on my hardtail, single speed. I think I'm going to just have to paint the whole thing pink.
