Quick Update

We, presumably, finished up the mix on The Last Call Girls demo. We recorded two live shows, one at Davey's and one at the Brick. We only mixed the stuff from the Brick, there were some frustrating technical problems at Davey's. It was definitely fun but also frustrating to record in a live setting. Due to the way we did it I was somewhat at the mercy of the soundman (I took feed from the inserts on the board) so some stuff could have been done better. There's also a pretty big time crunch that doesn't help. I'll definitely do remotes again but I now know my expectations.

His Last Chance has been putting some stuff down again. Ryan needs some songs recorded before his wedding in June so we set everythign up and have been getting a song or two down each practice. Thus far I'm very pleased with the sounds we're getting. Ryan bought a new snare and we spent a good amount of time tuning his kit. Nick is also using his new amp, a Hot Rod Deluxe.

I finally got a patchbay (always the simple things last) and got it wired up. It made me wonder how I did without it. I'm still moving a few things around but mostly I can't wait to get some more outboard gear to patch into!

Johnny Switchblade and the K.C. Crooners are planning on coming in in the next couple weeks.

It's looking like I'll be engineering a full-length in March. A band made of of members of bands that have recorded with me before is planning on a week long venture. I'm really excited to do a full length that's actually planned to really spend some time exploring and getting everything just right instead of hurrying through demos and EPs.

Troy Van Horn from The Octopus Frontier designed me a sweet business card that I should have printed pretty soon.
