Selling Pianos
I heard something on the radio a while back about how a salesman in a piano store is more likely to make a sale if plays a song that was popular when the prospective buyer was 18. It's amazing the attachment that gets made to music in the late teens/early twenties that is just impossible to replicate.
I recently played a show to a bunch of kids in that age range from say 15 - 20. There was no alcohol, no blatant drug use that I saw but these kids were having a great time. As soon as they caught a melody and a few words they were screaming it back at the bands. The were into it as much as the band was. I know when I was that age nearly every band I saw drew my attention and made my pulse quicken. It always felt like the music was for me to feel, not think about or analyze... just feel it.
I want to approach music like I'm 18 again.
