Ashlee Simpson, Milli Vanilli and the Complete Suckage of Pre-recorded Music in Live Setting.

Ashlee Simpson was on Saturday night live (video) "performing" her songs. The audio engineer started playing the vocal track before it was time. So, she doesn't sing live. Isn't that nice.

I want to see some outcry about this at some point. People pay a LOT of money to go see "musical performers" and then they get to hear a pre-recorded track?! Save the money and buy the CD or better yet download it from a P2P becuase it's junk and not worht anything anyway.

Last night I was with soem friends at a local Irish themed bar. Irish themed meaning that it has an Irish name, a green logo and Guiness on tap but beyond that... it's just another sports bar. So we're there talking, the World Series is on and we're half watching it. It's loud but we can still hear each other. Conversation is good. Around 9:30 or 10:00 there is a DJ that starts. This is a DJ in the sense of a guy playing music, not a "turntablist." It is retardedly loud! I've played in punk and rock bands for 10 years, I know loud and this was freaking loud! What is the point of being in a social setting where it's so loud that you become alone. I couldn't hear the people at the same table with me!

I'd give more lenience if it were a band. Instruments are loud. They are performing and giving you a unique experience. A band, or other live performance, is meant to be the focal point. A DJ playing CDs, is meant to provide some background noise and something you could dance too, not blast everyone out in order to try to be the focal point of the night.

I recently bought a new turntable and have borrowed some records from my in-laws. When my wife and I got home I put on some Hendrix followed by The Who. I'm listeneing to these and thinking that 30 years ago this was what people were listening to. Peopl making unique music. Now it's a few producers making cookie cutter music that's edited and auto-tuned until it sounds just like every other song out there.
